"In every age a hero or sage came to our aid." These are the familiar words from the Chanukah song "Mi Yimalel." A hero does not have to be a military figure. Jewish heroes have been artists, lawyers, philosophers, musicians, and scientists. How much did our leaders and role models contribute to our 5000 year survival ? Could we have made it without them ?
Another question : who would be included on a Jewish Mount Rushmore ? The American Mount Rushmore only had to consider figures from one hundred and fifty years of our history. The Jewish people, having been around for almost five thousand years, have had a huge number of heroes. The lecture will include Moses, Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Abraham, Theodor Herzl, King David, David Ben-Gurion, Solomon, Alfred Dreyfus, Golda Meir( above photo ), Haym Salomon, Queen Esther, Benny Goodman, Jonas Salk, Marc Chagall. Judah Macabee and others.
The lecture will examine these heroes of Jewish history and provide interesting aspects of their lives. Includes great paintings, photos and movie clips plus interesting memorabilia.
